you're invited to my first gallery show, "the feeling of fragrance"

Hey dear readers! I'm hosting my very first gallery show next week, and you're invited to come hang out.

"The Feeling of Fragrance" is a project I've been working on in secret over the past year. This one night only event will feature a collection of portraits inspired by my favourite scents and the memories that accompany them.

As you probably know, I recently moved to Toronto after my time in Montreal and Wisconsin. I'm incredibly excited to be back in town and would love to see you! Please stop by for a glass of wine and say hello. I look forward to welcoming not only the models featured in the portraits, but a great group of family, friends, clients and readers alike.

Certain pieces will be available for purchase. The collection will also be showing at Full Spectrum Gallery in Owen Sound, Ontario during November and December, 2014. This event is being coordinated by my friends at The Event Room and will feature florals by The Rose Mint and cupcakes by Sarah Burns that incorporate the fragrances and flavours in the portraits.

jennie's bridal shower

In just over a month, my best friend Jennie will marry the love of her life, Zach.

One of the many reasons why love it when my friends get married is that my camera and I get to be a big part of all the wonderful festivities. I had fun taking photos to celebrate Jennie and Zach's engagement last summer, and I'll be documenting the first part of their big day next month. The rest will be captured by Jesse Hildebrand, a fellow photographer, as I'll be busy participating in the day's celebrations.

Last weekend, I travelled to Jennie's hometown to join the party at her bridal shower. She was a vision in peach, simply glowing with happiness and excitement. Her mom and sisters did a fabulous job planning a perfect event.

Jennie and Zach, I'm so psyched for you guys and absolutely cannot wait until your big day!

Zach stopped by to drop off flowers and hug his bride-to-be.

hôtel pierre du calvet

Last month, I had the opportunity to take photos at a private party at Montreal's oldest hotel, Hôtel Pierre du Calvet. I always love covering private events, as it's such a privilege to share in the festivities of clients. I especially love smaller, intimate events because as a photographer, you have better opportunities to take photos of every guest, and present a more detailed visual story of the event.

When my lovely client Andrea told me that she and some friends would be celebrating a joint birthday with a party inspired by The Night Circus at Pierre du Calvet, I was thrilled to be available to photograph it. The guests of honour asked me to take lots of photos of the stunning details of the hotel, as they would be making a hardcover book to commemorate the experience. Here are my photos of this incredible place and the magical atmosphere of the party.

If you ever have a chance to stop in or go for a meal, I would highly recommend you do so!

In keeping with the circus theme, the hosts had arranged for a medium and a palm reader to be there and tell guests' fortunes. How awesome is the spot that Catherine Allan (clairvoyant) chose to sit and tell fortunes?

Andrea and Joyce, thank you so much for inviting me to join the Night Circus, for offering me champagne even though I was working, and for allowing me to take part in this incredibly magical event.
