country club wedding

Melanie chose to prepare for the day at her parents' home. Returning to the place where she grew up, a home steeped in memories and love. It was the ideal place to spend time with her mom, sister, cousin and best friends as she got dressed in all her finery. Just a few streets away, Billy and his friends got ready at his and Melanie's home. As someone who lives quite far away from family, the idea of building a home so close to parents is just lovely! I think it's absolutely wonderful that Mel and Billy are situated so close to loved ones. As a couple, home is their favourite place to be. They love to cook meals together, cheer enthusiastically for the Toronto Blue Jays, and snuggle up with their dog, Blue.

When it came time to see each other for the first time on their wedding day, they chose the cozy (and dry!) route as a wild storm gathered outside. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, they met in the heart of the home. Billy waited in the foyer while Melanie descended the staircase. Lots of smiling and clapping and hugs ensued.

Their ceremony and reception both took place at the elegant Burlington Golf & Country Club, which is always just as professional and hospitable as it is beautiful. Guests were also treated to hilarious and heartfelt toasts, a delicious meal and fantastic music by the Itchy & Scratchy Show. And most notably, the entire event was meticulously planned by the mother of the bride, Deb.

Mel and Billy, thank you so much for inviting me to be part of your day, and for treating us like family the whole time. I wish you so much happiness together! An extra special thanks goes out to Deb. Thank you for always being so wonderfully supportive of my work, and for being such a joy to spend time with, always :)

You know two people are madly in love when they're just as excited for what comes after their wedding as they are for the big day itself. Taryn and Andy confessed that as much as they were looking forward to their wedding they couldn't wait to just live life together after they tied the knot. And of course, they were eager to soak up some sunshine on their honeymoon in the Bahamas.

But I'm getting ahead of myself! On their wedding day, Taryn got ready in their beautifully decorated (and immaculately tidy!) home with her mom and bridesmaids, along with her two dachshunds, Lupo and Sully. After suiting up, Andy sat with his closest friends on the terrace at Burlington Golf and Country Club, overlooking Lake Ontario, waiting patiently for his bride to arrive.

Their outdoor ceremony was bright and cheerful, bathed in the bright light of the summer solstice. After they exchanged vows, they each held a key and turned them in unison to lock an engraved box that would stay sealed until a special anniversary. Such a cool tradition!

When their party began, they danced together gleefully as silver tinsel swirled around them. Their toasts were particularly memorable, as Taryn's sister "drafted" Andy into the family with the help of an amazing video with the comedic commentary, personalized messages and well wishes of many Canadian sportscasters, including Don Cherry and Ron Maclean. It was an evening filled with many laughs and so much love.

Taryn and Andy, I'm so very happy for you two. I've loved getting to know you, from our first conversations, to our shared love of dogs, to all the fun of your engagement session, to now designing your wedding album together. It's a privilege to know you and I can't wait to see what magic life brings you both.
