allison & frank's wedding day

When a couple plays "Everything is Awesome" from The Lego Movie during their ceremony and is formally introduced as "Team Cupcake" instead of husband and wife, it immediately sets a fun tone for the entire event. For their wedding day, Allison and Frank wanted a laid-back, chilled-out, joy-filled celebration with family and close friends. They chose to marry and celebrate in the cozy confines of an Italian restaurant, where the atmosphere could be akin to that of an intimate dinner party with their favourite people.

Allison and I worked together at Western's student newspaper, where she was a gifted and razor sharp news editor, and she has gone on to have a fantastic career in media and politics. She is and has always been one the most innately stylish women I know. I first met Frank after I did some portraits of Allison last summer. I will never forget because he was the first partner of a "client" to send me a personal email thanking me for the images I took. I was so touched that he took the time to do this, but I was also so clear from his tone how much he adored his then girlfriend. He signed off the email by mentioning that he looked forward to their eventual wedding photos.

In making all their wedding plans, including their initial decision to marry, Frank and Allison were thoroughly modern and unfussy. They geared everything around being able to show up (looking fabulous, mind you) and just enjoying a beautiful evening. Family and friends travelled from near and far to join in the fun, the fabulous five-course Italian meal, and to celebrate this sweet couple.

Allison and Frank, thank you so much for inviting me to document your wedding day. Wishing you guys so much happiness together!
