It's time for the April edition of Mind, Body, Spirit, where I round up discoveries, decisions, and other delights that have been good to me during the past month.
Body: My very favourite food blog is Joy the Baker. I first discovered it a few years ago, back when I worked for Bitchin' Kitchen and ate, drank, breathed, and dreamed about food, day and night. Among the plethora of food blogs I frequented, Joy's always stood out to me. Of course, her recipes are as delicious as they are inventive, and that's what I initially found interesting. Her unique voice is what's kept me reading long after I stopped working for a cooking show. Her warm and bubbly narratives are the perfect accompaniment to her tasty recipes. Over the last month, she's posted some particularly great things, like the buttered popcorn chocolate chip cookies I mentioned before, the cucumber blonde bloody mary, and this trio of smoothies.
Spirit: The best commitment I've made to myself hasn't happened yet, but it's simple. I'm going to do my best to make 1-2 days per week computer-free. Starting this week, I'll be taking at least one day off a week from my computer. Life is already more simple now that I ditched my phone's data plan (for now), but I'm making this commitment to myself in order to reconnect with all things non-electronic. Have you ever taken any kind of computer, internet, phone, or even just social media hiatus? I'm curious to know why or why not!
