creating inspiration and opportunities

When things get busy, we forget.

You know what I mean, right? We're so busy keeping up with what life demands of us that we forget all sorts of things: appointments, chores, errands. We pare our days down to the bare necessities and ration our time.

We forget to do things that keep us healthy and energized, and in the worst times we forget ourselves. Crushed under the weight of all our obligations, we forget what we're doing here, where we want to go, and what makes us feel like the best version of ourselves.

After many bouts of frustration, I've decided that inspiration does not always come readily. It just doesn't. But, rather than sit idle in the face of creative blocks, I've started to force myself to get inspired.

A while ago, when I was feeling particularly stuck, an idea popped into my head. It was an idea for a photo series. It would combine my obsession with portrait photography with my love of reading, and would allow me to work with lots of new people while throwing myself into a new creative venture.

I decided to create an opportunity for myself to find inspiration. I'm actively creating it, and loving every minute of it. More details about the project to come, but here are the first two photos.

A very big thank you goes to Angela and Elyse for posing for the first two test shoots. You guys are truly awesome and I'm so grateful for your support. Also, you're both the best models ever!

Inspiration is out there, but sometimes you have to go hunting for it. I can't wait to see what I catch next.
